At SASCU, we uphold the principle that every child, young person, and woman has the right to health, starting with access to basic healthcare, mental health and sexual and reproductive health and rights. We recognize that poor health, including mental health challenges—is both a cause and a consequence of vulnerability, particularly for children and young people in adversity.
Our work addresses the structural and social factors that contribute to poor health outcomes. We aim to ensure that newborns, children, adolescents, and women, especially the most disadvantaged and those in humanitarian settings, can access and utilize quality, integrated health services. This includes mental health and psychosocial support to promote emotional well-being, resilience, and recovery from trauma.
We place special emphasis on adolescent and young women's health, recognizing this as a critical window for breaking intergenerational cycles of poor physical, sexual, reproductive and mental health. SASCU promotes sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), ensuring that adolescents and young women, including those with disabilities, have access to accurate information, education, and responsive health services.
Our programs integrate HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support within sexual and reproductive health services, while actively engaging adolescents of all genders in shaping health solutions that meet their physical, emotional, and social needs. We also take deliberate action to address sexual and gender-based violence, reduce gender-based health disparities, and engage men and boys to eliminate harmful practices that compromise the health, safety, and dignity of children and young women.
Through these efforts, SASCU ensures that vulnerable populations not only survive but thrive, with improved health, strengthened resilience, and greater opportunities to participate fully in their communities.
