SASCU's Objectives

 

 

1.To withdraw, rehabilitate and reintegrate children living on the street and other vulnerable situations

2.To support the education of ex-street children and other vulnerable children

3.To improve the livelihoods of youth and vulnerable families to reduce street migrations in Uganda

4.To document and advocate for the rights of children living on the street and other vulnerable situations

5.To undertake actions to prevent and respond to child abuse, violence and exploitation

6.To strengthen the Institutional Capacity of SASCU Secretariat to undertake its Mandate

Street Children. by definition, a street child, is any girl or boy who has not reached adulthood, for whom the street has become his or her habitual abode and source of livelihood and who is inadquently protected, supervised or directed by responsible adults.

In another related definition, the term “street children” is used to refer to children who work and sleep on the streets. “Children of the street are homeless and are totally on their own.
